Independent lunch and departure to Volubilis, the UNESCO-sponsored Roman ruins and the sacred town of Moulay Idriss I, where the founder of Islam in Morocco is buried. We will then continue to Fès. Check-in at your hotel, dinner and overnight stay Fes. (BB)
Day 3: Fes sightseeing escorted by an official local guide.
We will enjoy all that Fes has to offer, a guided city tour to visit the old Medina of Fes; a particularly exciting experience because when you enter the sprawling labyrinthine alleys you feel like you have stepped back in time. Donkeys and mules are the only form of transport in these steep, narrow streets. Delicious scents come from the souk, where perfumes and spices are traded. In contrast, however, the most appalling stink emanates from the leather tanneries, where men often stand up to their waists treating leather in noxious baths, in much the same way as has been done for centuries – don’t let this put you off visiting there too; ethnic leather goods make great souvenirs! (BB)
Day 4: Fes – Middle Atlas Mountains – Beni Mellal – Ouzoud waterfalls
Our journey will take us through the Middle Atlas mountains, where cedar forests abound, and nearer to Marrakech we will be able to glimpse the even more imposing snow-covered peaks of the High Atlas mountains, and have the chance to visit one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world as the water tumbles some 360 lovely and amazing feet through lush greenery here we will have an overnight in a hotel beside the falls. Overnight in Ouzoud. (HB)
Day 5: Ouzoud falls – Marrakech
Today we will leave for the largest of all the Imperial Cities and the southern capital, Marrakech, where we will spend the final two nights of the tour, we will arrive at noon. Overnight in Marrakech.
Optional Activity: At late afternoon, after a long break, shower – at late afternoon- transfer to a palm-grove near Marrakech, come experience a magical, majestic, authentic and unforgettable dinner show! Originated from the Rif region, the Fantasia is a war ceremony consisting of opposing groups of horsemen. Each represents the best riders of their tribe. As each group quivers in glaring light, all its members point their rifles to the sky and shoot at the same time leaving behind them a tumult of burst and shouts. Comfortably seated on rich cushions under one of the various “Caïdales” tents you will taste the dishes that made Moroccan cuisine world famous. During this delicious meal enjoy folkloric troops, musicians, and acrobats from all over Morocco. They will entertain, astonish, captivate and surprise you. After the meal, we will go to the arena, where the show really gets started! Enjoy dances, songs and the caravan. Admire the incredible cleverness and nimbleness of the horse riders on their pure Arab steeds. One of the greatest surprises is the sultan and his favorite wife on a flying carpet above the spectators! (BB)
