Hike Grading System

Our adventures are rated not just in terms of the destinations we visit but also by the type of journey and activity we offer. level-Easy Easy: Treks of this grade are typically of short duration and do not require you to have previous trekking, mountaineering, or technical experience. As with all treks there is a requirement that you be in good physical health and be able to hike for between 2 to 4 hours per day carrying a daypack across mixed terrain.

level-Moderate Moderate: Treks of this grade are typically for anyone with a good level of fitness as they may involve a more strenuous terrain and an element of adventure! Treks of the moderate level may require that you practice and train reasonably prior to your departure. As with all treks there is a requirement that you be in good physical health and be able to hike for between 4 to 6 hours per day carrying a daypack.
(A moderate level of fitness is recommended in order for you to enjoy your trek to its fullest.) It does not require you to have any previous trekking, mountaineering, or technical experience)

level-Strenuous Strenuous: Treks of this grade are typically for individuals with a high level of fitness. Trekking days are between 6 to 8 hours carrying a daypack over hilly terrain. Extensive training prior to departure is highly recommended to maximize your enjoyment. It is essential to have previous trekking experience. As well, mountaineering and technical experience for the higher altitudes and snow is recommend. Strong physical ability as well as a keen sense of adventure is also a must!

level-Challenging Challenging: Treks of this grade are intense and require a high endurance level, as well a high fitness level and physical ability. Trekking days are between 6 to 8 hours carrying a daypack over mountainous terrain. Intensive physical training is highly recommended in the months leading up to your excursion. As well, mountaineering and technical experience for the higher altitudes and snow is recommend. Strong physical ability as well as a keen sense of adventure is also a must!
